Ms. Peggy Walton is Director of the National Association of Manufacturers’ National Center for the American Workforce.  Under her leadership, the Center will advance public and private investments and strategies to ensure an educated and prepared 21st century manufacturing workforce.  Ms. Walton leads the Center’s efforts to build and deploy partnerships and initiatives to expand the talent pool for manufacturers.  Fundamental to this effort is the awareness of careers in manufacturing.  In her capacity as Director, Ms. Walton is the national director of the NAM Dream It. Do It Campaign, a grassroots, economic development initiative to recruit young talent to manufacturing.  Peggy is also leading the Center’s efforts to expand successful strategies in developing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) workforce and developing networks that encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.  She serves on the National Advisory Council of Corporate Voices for Working Families and the Technical Advisory Committee of SkillsUSA.

Before coming to The Manufacturing Institute, Peggy worked with Central Georgia Technical College on adult education, and workforce and economic development.  She has an extensive background in corporate sales and sales management training, adult education, and business development.  She worked closely with the Chamber of Commerce on workforce development and she created marketing initiatives for several middle Georgia businesses and organizations.  Peg holds a B.A. from Mercer University, Macon, Georgia and pursued graduate work in Family Systems Therapy…an interest that she claims transfers nicely to the business environment!
